Wednesday, May 8th, 2013

Su Development is holding two senior housing focus groups. These focus groups are to solicit input from seniors and their loved ones regarding various aspects of senior housing and living in downtown Bellevue, like design, amenities, care, pricing, etc.

Su Development is planning to host these focus groups on 5/15 and 5/22 in downtown Bellevue. The first focus group, which will be next Wednesday, is aimed at seniors and potential users of senior living communities. The second focus group will be held the following Wednesday (5/22), and is aimed at family members looking for senior housing for their loved ones. As a token of their appreciation, dinner will be provided free of charge at both focus groups.

Flu Vaccine

By Claire · Posted 4 months ago · Comments (0)
Wednesday, January 16th, 2013

The King County Health Department just sent us a health advisory:

About the Flu Vaccine

Flu vaccination is the single best way to protect yourself and your loved ones from flu. The flu may be spreading for many weeks, so get vaccinated now to have protection for the rest of the flu season.
Health experts recommend flu vaccine for all people 6 months and older, especially for pregnant women and people who have long-term health problems, like diabetes, asthma, and heart or lung problems. Anyone who lives with or cares for an infant younger than 6 months should get vaccinated to protect the infant from getting flu.

If you can not pay to have a flu vaccine, you can get one for free at:

Eastgate Public Health Center
14350 SE Eastgate Way, Bellevue, 206-296-4920
Saturday, January 19, 10 am—2 pm
Wednesdays, 3-7 pm through January

About the Free Flu Vaccination Clinics

  • No other vaccinations will be offered at the time of the clinics.
  • You will be able to get flu shots or nasal spray vaccines, and preservative-free, gelatin-free, and latex-free vaccines will be available.
  • You do not need to be a regular client at Public Health Centers and you do not need to show proof of citizenship to get the vaccination.

For People With Insurance or Ability to Pay

Flu vaccine is also available at many healthcare provider offices and pharmacies for those who have insurance or are able to pay for vaccination. Visit http://flushot.healthmap.org to help find locations.

Like the rest of the nation, our region is experiencing an early flu season. Local emergency department visits by people with flu have increased across all age groups, and the number of influenza outbreaks at long-term care facilities this season is higher than in recent seasons. Public Health – Seattle & King County (PHSKC) is monitoring flu cases and working to manage the impact of flu on our community.  Resources for managing flu outbreaks are available on the PHSKC website: http://www.kingcounty.gov/healthservices/health/communicable/immunization/fluseason.aspx
