Pete’s is one of our younger clients at just 64 years old. Despite a rare degenerative neurological disorder, he is full of energy. When our client services coordinator, Ramona, arrived to do a home visit, Pete was sweeping the driveway. He tries to do as much as possible to overcome his physical limitations. But he just can’t drive safely any more – a recent car crash drove that home, and he gave up his keys. He uses public transportation when he can, but not all his medical and physical therapy appointments can be reached by bus.
Pete’s a regular at the Issaquah Valley Senior Center, and that’s where he found out about our transportation service. Since he’s just getting Social Security and SSI, having a way to get to health care appointments at no charge was really important to him.
With our volunteers’ help, Pete’s managing his health as well as he can. With regular physical therapy and monitoring, he should be able to continue to live independently.
Thank you for your support that enables people like Pete enjoy a better quality of life.
